Randall Bane,
Founder/Director of David’s House
Background
Randall Bane is a professionally trained actor who began his stage career in New York in 1965. After a dramatic conversion to Christ in 1974, he began to turn his work completely toward ministry, developing a unique combination of mime, dance and drama to express the Christian faith and to worship God.
Within a few years Randall’s ministry became truly international, with frequent trips to Europe, Australia and the Far East. From 1983 to 1996 his travels included an annual period of about two months in Israel where he became one of the leaders at the Christian Celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles, becoming Artistic Director in 1991. It was there that his true calling was confirmed: to lead fully-expressed worship in the spirit of King David’s Tabernacle. As Feast Artistic Director from 1991 to 1994 he coordinated all the theatre arts (music, dance, drama, props, pageantry, garments, sets, lighting, sound and video), transforming Jerusalem’s largest Convention Center into a complete worship environment for up to 5000 people during the yearly week-long event.
In 1996 Randall founded David’s House in Kansas City Missouri. Until 2004 he there produced a full schedule of celebration events, conferences and workshops in a beautiful theatre created in an abandoned Jewish synagogue. Randall closed the Kansas City base of David’s House in December 2004 and moved to Orlando, Florida, continuing to do the same work but on an itinerant basis. The experience of David’s House is now available “on the road” in your church or other venue.
SOLO CONCERTS: Randall’s concert is a full-evening one-man presentation that brings audiences to laughter, tears and new understanding. Perfect for young and old together, the message of the gospel is spoken and sung for the ear, and fully interpreted for the eye as well. Story songs bring biblical characters to life; Randall’s speaking teaches deep truths in a way that makes them easy to comprehend; his heartfelt worship through movement leads believers into the presence of God. Using fabric, flags and other symbolic objects, Randall transforms any physical environment into a place of worship, whether it is the enhancing of a sanctuary or the redeeming of a hotel ballroom.
FULL PAGEANTRY: Randall will produce and direct his original pageant, “The Ark of His Presence; From Moses to David to the Church.” Using your facility and up to 12 local women and 6 local men, he will spend two days in preparation and set-up (requiring two three-hour rehearsals from local participants). The pageant may be performed from one to three times (depending on your audience potential). The pageant is a full two-hour production and may be sampled by perusal of a VCR or DVD copy of excerpts. Please order from our office.
WORSHIP SERVICES: Randall can be integrated into any kind of worship service as a speaker, an artist, or a worship leader. As a guest speaker, his themes focus on Scriptures appropriate to the season, or he can cover topics a host might request. He includes performance pieces for illustration within the talk or as a “special” in another portion of the service. As a worship leader, Randall can interpret in movement the live music of the local musicians or he uses CD recordings. If the church has a dance/pageantry team, he works to integrate his work with them.
WORKSHOPS: Randall’s hands-on workshops give insight and rich practical experience to those who use dance, pageantry, mime and other movement/visual arts in worship and outreach. His approach teaches Christian principles even as he teaches movement techniques. Workshop length can be a single hour or several days; length of time and focus of content are discussed with the host at the time of your inquiry, so the program is adjusted to local needs.
CONSULTING: (1) In the consulting package called “Designing the Worship Environment”, Randall will consult on design and/or decoration of your new or existing worship space. (2.) The consulting package entitled “Building A Converging Arts Worship Team” helps churches move toward a balanced worship team including movement and visual artists along with music artists. Each package takes several days; please contact our office to discuss a plan.
Consulting costs are negotiated for each individual situation.
FINANCE: Remuneration for concerts and all other services is discussed on an individual basis. Under most circumstances free will offerings are preferred over the use of a fee structure. However, if it is your preference, we’re happy to discuss fees, and contract for a fixed amount. Our “bottom line” is that God’s will be done. Good stewardship requires the discussion of expectations from both sides before making financial commitments. Host churches or organizations are asked to provide air travel, food and lodging. If the engagement is within driving distance from Central Florida, driving cost arrangements can be made.
HOSPITALITY: Randall travels alone and prefers hospitality in a home rather than a hotel.
CONTACT INFORMATION: To discuss an engagement please call the David’s cell 407-496-6913; write to us at P.O. Box 54791 Orlando, FL 32854-7291; or e-mail us at ellenmsmith@aol.com.
