The objective of Randall’s teaching is to deepen the believer’s relationship with God and with other believers by greater awareness of—and skill in using—the language of movement. Sessions are designed to encourage active and expressive worship through participation in simple movement exercises and involvement in discussion.
Formal dance training is not required for participation, nor is it discouraged. We believe that everyone can benefit regardless of their degree of preparation. The primary requirements are a genuine interest and a willingness to be an active participant. Some will want merely to explore this experience or to seek greater freedom in their personal worship. Others already may have a recognized gift and even be involved in using it for ministry. Our hope is that all who come will receive new vision, insight, and encouragement for greater expression of their hearts to God.
Participants should dress in a way that allows full and free movement but preserves decent modesty while moving rapidly or working on the floor. All or part of the following classes may be taught, depending upon the time available and the needs/desires of the sponsoring group.
GETTING READY Randall teaches his own prayer warmup for daily preparation of the body, soul (mind and emotions), and spirit for ministry through movement. This is a series of stretching and limbering exercises done to a vocal and musical CD prepared for this purpose.
BREAKING OUT Through expressive games and exercises Randall helps even the most shy to open up and express through visible movement what’s going on invisibly inside. Fun, challenging, and very valuable to all performers (even preachers!).
MOVEMENT VOCABULARY Randall shares the gestural and complete body-movement language he has developed for the words and concepts often found in songs, hymns and choruses of worship and praise.
VOICE OF EXPERIENCE Randall answers your questions about performance ministry based on his experience as clown, pantomime artist, worship dancer, actor, director, teacher and preacher. Sit a spell and talk heart-to-heart.
