SHAVUOT and PENTECOST 2007 A Celebration of the Jewish and Christian Holy Days as One David’s House, a ministry that uses dance and pageantry in worship, moved its headquarters from Kansas City to Florida in early 2006. Four times a year David’s House presents major celebrations in Central Florida. The first Orlando event, called “Fall Feasts of Israel”, was held in September 2006. Rosh Ha Shanah, Yom Kippur and the Feast of Tabernacles were celebrated with teaching, pageantry and the high praises appropriate for that joyous season. In January 2007 the second major event, called “King’s Feast”, was produced. It was a celebration of the first coming of the King of Kings, Jesus, with an eye to His second coming. It featured a banquet fit for the King’s family, an evening of teaching and pageantry that closed out the Christmas season and a celebration of worship through music and dance. March 2007 brought the third celebration, “Passover/Easter”, this time held in Mt. Dora. Of all the Jewish and Christian Holy Days that have direct historic and prophetic connection, Passover and Easter are the best known. The crucifixion, burial and resurrection of the Messiah are clearly foretold in Israel’s three Spring feasts (Passover, Unleavened Bread and Firstfruits); these became the three holiest days for Christians (Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday). Through scriptural teaching, drama and dance the richness of this Holy season was brought to life by Randall Bane, the David’s House founder and director, and his team of performers. Fulfilling the David’s House mandate to teach and worship with all the senses engaged, the fourth in this series of events will be presented on Saturday, May 26, 2007. As with the other celebrations a strong sense of the connection between Jewish and Christian spirituality will characterize the event. This celebration is called “Shavuot/Pentecost”. Shavuot, held fifty days after Firstfruits, is the Feast which traditionally commemorates the giving of the law to Moses on Mt. Sinai. It was exactly on this Feast that the Holy Spirit fell on the apostles and other disciples. This day is called Pentecost by most of the Christian world. The David’s House “Shavuot/Pentecost” celebration will present these truths in biblical teaching, pageantry, dance and drama. All believers, regardless of background, denomination or affiliation are invited to join the praise and worship of God for His gift of the Holy Spirit. The venue is a city-owned theatre in the heart of downtown Mt. Dora with seating for 700. It sits beside the City Hall on Baker St., just north of Fifth Avenue. Reservations are not required. The program begins at 7:30 pm. Mt. Dora has plenty of street and lot parking downtown. There are also many restaurants within walking distance of the theatre. The program will last about two hours and is free to all. Renumeration will be by offering.
